How NOT To Sail Into a Storm's Track, and why current and future weather is important.

Current Tropical Cylone Warning Graphic (as of this post) for Tropical Storm 06E - Cosme Here

Scroll to the right and notice the margin data.

Two zeros are trunctuated (assumed) in the UTC Time group.

Notice the track avoidance area (inside the dashed line) fan widens, in the future, allowing for un-certanties in long term forecasting. The likely "best guess" is someplace inside the dashed line.

Hi Jeff,

My security software is strongly advising me to not visit the site you have flagged above. Is there any concern expressed when you try to enter the site? I am interested to see the graph expressed on a worldwide basis. Frequently US based info only gives 'safe' areas of TRS's relevent to the northern hemisphere, which unless adapted, can place anyone in the southern hemisphere in real danger. Similarly Oceania data can be exclusive to southern hemisphere conditions, and not valid for northern regions.

Cheers

David.

David,

Yes and no.

Sometimes, depending on how I have accessed that site, (directly or via clicking on links) I have received warnings about the "security certificate", as I often have and do from official US sites. On the other hand I have never had a problem with proceeding anyway. My computer never rusted and locked up because of it, nor have there ever been any problems.

There is something I do not know or understand. I suspect it is the fashion of official sites, not wanting to play the "MS-Windows" game, making their own rules, taking their own security measures, not recognizable by ordinary or default settings.

This is not hemisphere related.

The source is the Joint Typhon Warning Center, one of the main sources of world weather information, world weather reporting agencies and world news agencies depend on. This is weather data and information from the root source, one of the best possible sources.

If one was any closer to the source of weather information, one would call Mother Nature, Mom or Mum.....

Those types of agencies are not in the business, of making trouble via the internet. Their interests are the exact opposite.

In the future I will attempt to post the (reduced) graphic instead of the link, if possible. I was having problems reducing it to an acceptable size (kb - kilo-bytes).

Concerning your last post:

That is not fair. That is like passing notes in grade school, in code, in Ocker (OZ-English).

....but I assume it was a thank-you; and that would be just fine.

Fair Winds,

Jeff

Thanks Jeff.

The reference to hemisphere is valid under the title 'How not to sail into a storms' track'. Advice given for general safety and escape when assessing the dangerous quadrants of a Tropical Revolving Storm (TRS) is opposite when referring to the southern or northern hemisphere. I was referring to the equatorial crossing....Coriolas effect/clockwise-anticlockwise etc.etc.

Arigatou gozaimasu, or ありがとうございます is indeed 'thank you'...I was just being pretentious. I am currently learning how to turn my oral Japanese language (にほんご)into the written word. Only 1800 kanji to go, then I can read a newspaper!

Croikeymate!

David or...デービッド as the case may be.

PS..For the sake of interest 'Jeff' would be pronounced 'Gee-air-fu' and would be spelled ジエーフ in katakana, and じえーふ in hiragana.

(I need the practice)

David,

I misunderstood.

Valid indeed!
