Interesting article from "SCIENCE" magazine which links storm formation to the Solar Sun spot cycle.

ScienceNOW Daily News - "Come Shine, Come Rain

They have found a correlation between storm formation in East Africa and the sun spot cycle.

What could impact cruisers is their prediction that weather would become more extreme at the solar maximum. We are currently in the solar minimum. We will hit the solar maximum in 2011/2012.

And then there is Nigel Calder's Op-Ed piece An Experiment... that seems to indicate our weather is caused by cosmic rays...

Now can anyone tell me if this is the same Nigel Calder we all know and love for his books on Sailboat Mechanics, and sailboat Electrical/Electronics?
