Hawaii Inter-island Yachting

We are going to Hawaii this fall and want to charter a boat there to cruise inter-island. We found Hawaii Boat and Yacht Rentals but none of their offerings are bareboat and they are awfully pricey for a week's charter. The Moorings don't operate in Hawaii. Any other suggestions?

This link http://holoholo.org/hiycnews/ gives the names of most sailing clubs and associations in the Hawaiian Islands. I suggest email contact with several clubs, outlining your preferences and plans. I am sure they will post your details in their club mags and bulletin boards. With any sort of luck, you will find someone with a nice yacht which they are prepared to bareboat charter.

PS. From personal experience, I can attest that the folks at Lahina Yacht Club, Maui, enjoy a BBQ and more than just the occasional coldie.

That's all I could find via Google. All the rest were skippered charters.

It may be that the winds and coastline make Hawaii too much of a risk for bareboating.

I found that problem when checking out Fiji. too easy to run into something!
