La Linea, Spain (Cruising Wiki)

Word on the 'grapevine' is that the Guardia Civil Marine patrols are ordering anchored vessels to leave or move into the new marina. No official notification has been seen re free anchoring, just some vessels report being told to move.

In the last four weeks I have seen a number of yachts anchored behind the breakwater in La Linea, one apparently longer-term.

The harbour is still very empty, say 30% of the places are taken. I recently enquired about a place for two months February and March 2011 for my 10.2m catamaran and was offered the normal winter price for a cat of 10 - 12m, no concessions at all being offered. This would mean that I would pay more than in Marina Bay, Gibraltar.

I will thus be moving the odd 20M to Sotogrande where I was not asked to pay the typical 50% multihull loading.
