Exclamation Missing Sailor Alert

Here is the deal: we do not know where he is, there is no contact with him for over a month. His EPIRB was never activated and there is no sign of any emergency transmission from his yacht. His family, friends and all sailors are very concerned about his whereabouts and health. Authorities have been contacted in Brazil, Poland and internationally, merchant and cruise ship companies have been asked for help. We are using all possible means to spread this message among sailors, mariners and persons concerned about safety on sea. Please do help. Please share this post.

Missing while circumnavigating solo - Captain Tom Cichocki. S/Y POLSKA MIEDZ, last contact 13.03.2012, 15:04 UTC, Position: -20.18 S -34.66 W (approx 200 miles east of Espirito Santo, Brazil), COG: 55, Log: 24780 NM.

If you know of any friend or family member, neighbor, simply anyone on any vessel, commercial, pleasure, navy, that could be around that area (and probably way north or northeast of that area now), please pass this message and ask to look for Tom and his sailing yacht and not only inform if he is seen, but communicate with him and check on his status.

Thanks for your post. What was the float plan for S/Y POLSKA MIEDZ? Do we know which call-in or check-in that he missed?

Fair winds,

His next port of call was Brest, France, but if you look on the website
Location | Around The World Delphia Project

we received his position very often, now, for 40 days - nothing.

Thank you for the additional information as it can be helpful to all sailors who might be in the area your friend is heading towards.

The worry that people experience when we don't immediately hear from friends and loved ones is the curse of the present age of technology which enables us to stay so very well connected.

We will keep Tom in our prayers and we will hope that another mariner will come with information for all of us--a siting of Tom's vessel underway or a radio conversation.

Fair winds,

I see that Toms position was posted on his web site on 25 April 2012 as being just south of the Azores at 37.92N 027.75W with COG 015 deg.

Looks like he is about to arrive in the Azores and is safe.

Thanks JohnT for the update

We will hope that at some point Tom can tell us about his wonderful trip and we can learn what happened with the position uploads.

Fair winds,

We picked up his AIS signal today close to Azors. We have 2 positions, he is moving east at 5.2kts.
That is a great news. Thanks for all help.
