The statement is not quite correct. Reports of dinghies and outboard motors being stolen continue, including two instances of theft happening within sight of the security vessel. The Guatemalan authorities have, however, recently announced increased funding of the security services being provided along that stretch of the Rio Dulce near Fronteras but cruisers cannot fully relax and have to take all reasonable measures possible in order to protect their property.
