My white KISS blades were eaten by UV.
So I painted them black, which should keep all UV out of them.
I have black poly pipe which has been in the sun since 1976, which is in perfect condition. White would have broken down in three years.

As an aside to the above, always use black cable ties when securing external cable runs (nav pod etc). The white ones look better, but suffer UV degradation far more quickly.

That is a great idea to paint them black! About six years ago I closed two thruhull holes at the waterline, after beveling the repair went well into the white topside paint. Small quantites of two-part paint were not available, so I used one-part until I could get a Round Tuit and finish it properly. Even though it is wet a lot, the black waterline stripe looks excellent! And the white topside paint is crazed and starting to peel.

Over the years I've considered coating the blades with SOMETHING, but potential problems I imagine are the increase in the blade weight and not getting the coating perfectly uniform on every blade and the effects that would have on the bearings. How did you prep the surface? How many coats of paint did you use? Did you use a base coat? How did you apply the paint? What kind of paint? One part? Two part?
i just gave mine a light sanding and a coat of black oil based enamel. Haven't experienced any change of balance problem, but the instructions give you info on how to balance them, if there is a problem,
