Default Port window seals and sealant

All, can anyone give me some ideas on resealing windows? First of all they are thirty years old. They leak in the seals and where they are fastened into the walls. I was told that 5200 should not be used and that hopefully it is not on my windows now.
Any thoughts would be great!
Thanks
Bryan

There are a variety of bedding compounds which may be used depending upon the material of construction of the hull you're bedding against. 5200 doesn't have enough elasticity for the most part. Silicon-modified polyurethanes do work (Tremco and Sikaflex brands) but aren't terribly UV resistant (must be covered/painted). You can stop by your local marine store for info or check out Jamestown Distributors online since they have quite a bit of educational information on their site.

Where are you? and where is your boat?

Butyl tape - purchase at an RV store. Works better than anything you will find in a marine store and is much less expensive

Roger, thanks for the butyl caulk idea. Are you connecting to Internet through HAM/ SSB or satelite?
Thanks
Bryan
