I have a drop-center velvet drive with reduction box total weight around 76 kg and I need to break it down to transport to my boat in Honolulu. The weight is no problem as I can check in 3 bags of 32kg each with my Qantas club allowance. Does anyone have experience in breaking down the transmission? I'm hoping that the reduction assembly is under 32kg so I just need an easy option for the main box. I plan to pack in strong cardboard boxes and check it in. Why? you may ask. Its because the freight from Brisbane to Honolulu is anywhere between 1200 and 2000+ and I could buy my little transmission a seat for way less than that. Go figure. Thanks to all those who reply.

Hi Mav,

I have split the 71 in-line at the reduction housing - no idea of the weight of each piece.

Here is the Installation manual with drawings and info (it is pdf format, if it doesn't load your end - PM me with your email and I'll send it)Borg-Warner-Velvet-Drive-Marine-Installation.pdf
