Hello

I am trying to help a friend with and older Volvo Penta engine model 3000 which uses a Hydraulic pump F11C-39 to power the shaft. The pump was disconnected by a local mechanic and not repaired before the boat was purchased. The original problem was that the boat only went 2 knots in forward gear and 8 knots in reverse. The pump has two hoses one in and one out I assume. My question is could the problem simply be that the hoses were reversed.

Thanks

Sounds like your propeller is on the wrong way around. Easy enough to do, I've seen it done here by a local slipway in Sydney.

A little more info needed :- Understand that the Engine is a Volvo Penta 3000 ; what age engine ? What HP? have you got a different model number?

With a Hydraulic pump F11C-39 Do you mean a gearbox? or does this pump drive a hydraulic motor which drives the prop shaft ?

The pump has two hoses one in and one out What is the pump connected to?
