A most unusual event, a cat 4 cyclone now forecast to arrive in Perth Western Australia by the end of the month :-

WIND WARNING

For coastal waters from Kalbarri to Albany

Issued at 5:47 pm WST on Saturday 29 January 2011

Please be aware, wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the

averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

SITUATION

At 5:00 pm WST Tropical Cyclone Bianca was located within 30 nautical miles of

latitude twenty nine decimal four degrees South (29.4S)

longitude one hundred and eight decimal seven degrees East (108.7E)

about 400 nautical miles west northwest of Perth

and 310 nautical miles west of Geraldton

Recent movement : south southeast at 13 knots

Maximum winds : 60 knots

Central pressure: 975 hectopascals

Forecast to be within 60 nautical miles of

latitude thirty one decimal two degrees South (31.2S)

longitude one hundred and eleven decimal four degrees East (111.4E)

about 235 nautical miles west of Perth

with maximum winds of 40 knots

at 5:00 am WST Sunday

Forecast to be within 120 nautical miles of

latitude thirty two decimal four degrees South (32.4S)

longitude one hundred and fourteen decimal eight degrees East (114.8E)

about 60 nautical miles west southwest of Perth

with maximum winds of 30 knots

at 5:00 pm WST Sunday

GALE WARNING

Within 60 nautical miles in NE quadrant

and within 90 nautical miles in SE quadrant

and within 120 nautical miles in SW quadrant

and within 90 nautical miles in NW quadrant.

Clockwise winds 30/40 knots with squalls to 50 knots. Combined seas and swell

to 4.0m.

STRONG WIND WARNING

For coastal waters elsewhere from Kalbarri to Albany

Kalbarri to Mandurah

Winds strengthening to northeast to northwest 20/30 knots during Sunday

morning. Combined seas and swell rising to 3.0m to 4.0m.

Mandurah to Albany

Winds strengthening east to southeasterly 20/30 knots from the south from

Saturday evening. Combined seas and swell rising to 3.0m to 4.0m.

The next warning will be issued by 9:00 pm WST Saturday 29 January.

Forecast to be within 55 nautical miles of 31.9S 114.6E about 65 nautical miles

west of Perth with maximum winds of 30 knots at 5:00 pm WST Sunday.

STRONG WIND WARNING

Kalbarri to Mandurah

Winds becoming north to northwest 20/30 knots later this morning. Winds easing

by this evening and shifting south to southwest 18/23 knots before increasing

to southerly 20/30 knots south of Jurien Bay during Monday morning. Wind gusts

to 45 knots in showers and thunderstorms. Combined seas and swell rising to

3.0m to 4.0m. Tides will be higher than normal and are likely to rise above the

highest astronomical tide level on Sunday evening with dangerous surf

conditions and coastal erosion south of Jurien Bay. Refer to Severe Weather

Warning [IDW28001] for details.

Mandurah and Cape Naturaliste

SE/NE winds 15/20 knots strengthening to S'ly 20/30 knots this evening. Tides

will be higher than normal and are likely to rise above the highest

astronomical tide level on Sunday evening with dangerous surf conditions and

coastal erosion. Refer to Severe Weather Warning [IDW28001] for details.

Combined seas and swell rising 3.0m to 4.0m.


Cape Naturaliste to Albany

Southeasterly winds 20/30 knots reaching 25/33 knots between Margaret River and

Walpole. Combined seas and swell rising to 3.0m to 4.0m.

The next warning will be issued by 11:00 am WST Sunday 30 January on form

IDW20100.
