Getting boat stuff done in Thailand
A quick report on our recent experiences getting things done to the boat in Thailand.
I would not hesitate to recommend getting timber work done here. We are currently in Boat Lagoon where we spent 6 weeks last year. Nai and Toe did some very good quality work, but most importantly, when we had a small problem with some of it, there was no hesitation with the problem being fixed. Prices were fair, but don't expect cheap.
Mechanical and electrical work still seems to be a bit of an issue, mostly based on what I have seen with other peoples experience.
One of the biggest issues is language. Many business operators speak good English, but few of their workers do. Expect to have significant communication issues on any job, unless you are fluent in Thai.
Buying parts here can be very expensive. We have been in Perth, Western Australia, in December and bought a particular LED light from Whitworths there for $A49.95. I have seen the identical light for sale here at Boat Lagoon in the last few days for 2555Bht which is over $A100.
