Smile West Coast of Italy 2015

Hello all,
We are about to leave Sicily for the season and head north (after a side trip to restart our VAT clock).

We can see plenty of marinas on our way up but can anyone fill us in on anchorages off the west coast? We have heard that anchoring restrictions have been applied to many places in the past 2 years but don't know if this is scuttlebutt or truth.
We intend ending up in Cartagena for next winter, before heading back over the Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico in the next season.
thanks
Hoges

Hi, I don't know much about the waters of the Med however, it might be worthwhile to click on the Cruising Wiki on the top of this page and search the west coast of Italy.
Cheers.

This page might help IF you read Italian (I do but it is a lot to translate).

Apparently they have set up zones that are allowed for anchoring and zones that are not allowed at all. The article covers a part of it but I would strongly suggest either getting current reg's from the Italian naval authorities or getting a copy of the current Italian water pilot as this is new to me and something I will have to study.

Thank you for that. I'll wander off over to our Italian friend's boat and see what she can tell me from it. Many thanks.
