On or about January 21 2008 the U.S. yacht Queequeg II capsized approximately 200 NM southeast of Madagascar (LINK). On board the Queequeg were three men, one of whom was rescued. The remaining two men (Joe Strykowski and Quen Cultra) have not, as yet, been found.

"And when at length her course is run,

Her work for home and country done,

Of all the souls that in her sailed,

Let not one life in Thee have failed;

But hear from heaven our sailor's cry,

And grant eternal life on high!

On behalf of the "crew" at CruiserLog

Although all hope is not yet lost for the remaining two men, Nicole and Lisa, the daughters of Joe Strykowski, chose the following poem as a source of inspiration in these difficult times.

"Sea-Fever"

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,

And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,

And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,

And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide

Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;

And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,

And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,

To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;

And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover

And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

By John Masefield (1878-1967).

(English Poet Laureate, 1930-1967.)

With Gratitude,

Nicole and Lisa
