Default The Passing of MMNETSEA

Friends,

With sadness, we need to let you know about the loss of a long time member of the CruiserLog family. MMNETSEA (Richard Doaldson-Alves) recently passed away in Thailand after a short illness.

We deeply appreciated his selfless contribution of time and expertise here. As a member of the Site Team for a decade, he was a cornerstone of our community. He helped countless cruisers worldwide and the cruising community is richer for his stewardship.

About MMNETSEA:

Richard Donaldson-Alves was an eminent researcher and Epidemiologist on vector borne diseases, malaria, and dengue fever. An avid sailor, he had occasion to do boat deliveries and he cruised in the Mozambique Channel, Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi River, Southern China to Japan, South East Asia, New Zealand, Queensland - Australia, Volta to Sao Tome, Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean, and the North Sea - Scotland & Norfolk. As part of his service to the cruising community, he was a controller for SE Asia Mobile Maritime Net.

Richard's life experiences included working in Africa, China, Europe, USA and in Indochina. He spoke a several languages including some Greek. Richard was very active in CL and other cruiser related forums.

Fair winds, Richard - you will be missed.

A nice guy that I never had the chance to meet.

Sad news indeed to find on my return. Hope he didn't suffer in the end.

The forum is poorer for his passing.

I've only just returned from a delivery and saddened to hear this news.
Sail on, Richard... you'll certainly be missed.
To Life,

When I read this, I cried and am not ashamed of the tears for a man I never met but brought wisdom and knowledge to me and my family. The next thing I did was picked up a chromatic harmonica and played taps as I don't remember the the notes for the Naval last call.

Richard may you now wander on fine waters, with fair winds and a stout vessel and the Lord's peace be upon you for always.

Michael

When you have been away and then return there is much good news to be greeted with. All the good news however, is but a morsel when compared to such sad news as the passing of Richard. RIP

Default Long Time!

Auzzee...

The last time I heard from you was before we left the US on our cruise. Well guess what...we are here in Australia now!

Where are you these days?

Cheers mate!
