My name is Chael. I'm looking to crew a boat to cross the Pacific. I will be flying into Medellin February 20 and will go north to Cartagena, from where I hope at least find a position crewing to Panama, and from there continue with that boat, or meet another.
I have crewed only twice, and for short distances. First was La Paz Mexico to Mazatlan across Cortez. The second was from the San Blas islands to Cartagena. I discovered that I do not get sea sick nor claustrophobic, and despite having learned a few things, I look forward to meeting captains once I'm back in Panama who are willing to take on a novice and would be willing to teach more, because I am determined to understand sailing.
I am 26 years old, male, from Chicago. I speak fluent French, Spanish and Portuguese, and have traveled immensely in Europe and Latin America. I graduated from the University of Oregon. I am a very level-headed person, I enjoy cooking, drawing and writing. I hold a website at velabas.com.
In terms of boat types, I have no preference, but I have been taught by cruisers to scrutinize closely the situation onboard before committing to a trans-oceanic voyage, which I intend to do.
So I look forward to hearing from you. You can e-mail me directly at email@example.com
. Until then,
