Exp crew available for S. Pacific/Oceania, Sept 2012

We, Julie & George, are experienced sailors who will be traveling from the U.S. to Australia to visit family in Sydney. We wish to join a boat for a few late-season legs, not just as ride-along passengers but as able and willing crew. We envision committing about 8 weeks aboard and are available from September 2012 through the end of the cruising season. We will consider any itinerary in the area. We offer our innovativeness, resourcefulness, and healthy cooking as major pluses!

George, 44, is a carpenter by trade and a sailor by nature; he’s been sailing for 30 years, including a previous bluewater voyage from Bora Bora to New Zealand. Julie, 36, is a writer, editor, and poet. She has been sailing for 3 years and is on the water 2-3 days a week throughout the sailing season, learning her way around a variety of boats both cruising and racing. Nothing so inspires the poet in people quite so much as sailing offshore. The problem often, is one needs to go below to pen one's compositions.

Best of luck to you both. Love your poems Julie. Just think of the metre and rhymes which can spring from Tahiti, Vanuata, Tuamotu, and Aotearoa.

I wrote a beaut about Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and the Moai thereupon. But I had injudiciously swallowed a half a bottle of Bailey's Irish Creme along with a shot of coffee prior to the writing exercise. Then, urged on by a band of fellow drunkards, the wee poem became an 'R' rated epic, not suitable for publishing.

But we did set it to music....Well, by that, I mean we sang it all night to a well known ditty about a woman of ill repute named Charlotte.
