Default Information wanted for newb :)

Hello everyone!
I am new to this world and am interested in how these things work. Was just wondering if anyone can give me tips for a potential transatlantic crossing, euro to N/S America direction? Is there a common point that is the best to attempt it from. Is experience an absalute must and is it hard or easy to accomplish this journey? Any info is appreciated

This page gives a bit of information about the passage, times of the year, weather windows, etc:

It isn't absolutely necessary to have experience but you will need to find a skipper willing to take you on without any. Enthusiasm counts for as much as experience does, so pack your bags with plenty of that. Probably not a bad plan to keep following the ARC web sites and see if someone on that rally has a spot open for crew.
