I guess this thread is a bit early, but I already want to see if there are any opportunities out there for us so we can plan further!
Me (22-year-old Finnish girl) and my fiancee Reymond (28-year-old Filipino) are going to Mexico for three months (until March) after which we will go do our school's work placement in Nicaragua. We're not sure how long this will take, something like 3-6 months, and after that our plan is to eventually find our way to Australia. So we were hoping to hop on board and sail either all the way to Australia or somewhere in between is perfectly fine, for example Hawaii, French Polynesia, anything goes. From Nicaragua it's easy to take the bus to Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama or where-ever your boat is docked. We would be able to leave Nicaragua sometime around June-September 2014.
We don't have a lot of experience yet, but we learn fast, are in good physical condition and fun to have around! We can do whatever is needed on the boat from cleaning to cooking or fixing things. We will chip in on shared costs and don't expect to be paid from this trip. I have some experience sailing on a brig, but I guess it's a bit different from a normal private sailboat. Anyhow it made me fall in love with the ocean and sailing! I speak fluent Finnish and English, and some Swedish, German and Spanish. Reymond speaks English, Spanish and Filipino (Tagalog) fluently.
Hope to hear from you all soon!
