Hello

We will be visiting eastern PNG and would like to travel onto Palau but are unsure about the best time and route. We will be in PNG in july / August / September.

We are concerned about the light winds that maybe onroute to Palau and adverse currents.

Can anyone assist with experience or info about traveling there and back to Australia

Thanks

As July>>August>>September are Typhoon months, Need to know where you will be in EASTERN PNG. Depending where you are it may be better to go to Palau south of PNG rather than the Northern side.

From Palau to Australia best to take the northern route

We are planing to travel to Palau from PNG and return to Australia

We will be Sideia Island then heading north towards Kavieng before making for Palau

We expect to be clearing out of Kavieng around september october but are unsure of when

Hi Mate,

I would like to do this trip in a roundabout way also. I was thinking if it would be easy to go to Vanuatu, Solomons, then up the east coast of PNG, Palau. Then I'd like to go to Guam then Truk Lagoon then back to PNG or Solmons and on the way checking all the smaller Micronesian Inlands. It's different to what most would be doing and maybe too difficult to do.

I have been told to get these books Cruising Guide to Southeast Asia Vol 1&2 By Stephen Davies and Elaine Morgan and then of course there's Jimmy Connells World Cruising Routes.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kevin

Good to here from someone re this passage. We have both of the cruising guides and have recently returned from PNG. We were in Mackay for two weeks recently and went up on the hard there. We will be looking for the transition period for making our way across the equator. We have concerns about the amount of motoring required and our limited fuel capacity ( about 380ltrs). I would be happy to keep in touch and develop a plan for next season, email / skype. We have a commitment to a village at Oba Bay and will be there for a while, we have family there and we always get a great time when we visit. Hope to hear from you.

Regards

Paul Green
