My name's Dennis. I'm British, 33 years old and live and work in Costa Rica, I work as a teacher here. I'm trying to gain as much sailing experience as I can as I'm hoping to have a bit of a career change and work in the Yachting Industry....starting with getting my Yachtmaster Ocean.

I'm hoping to find someone who needs a useful, hard working and practical minded crew member during June and July this year. I have a month holiday from the 18th June till the 19th July during which time I'll be available to crew. Then the next time I'll be available for anything more than a weekend sailing out of Costa Rica will be in December for two months.

I have sailed dingies since I was a young lad but recently I've been doing more sailing on bigger boats. I've sailed in the Philippines on a 46ft Yacht, Shibumi, for two week long voyages including 4 nights at sea. Then most recently I completed both my RYA Day Skipper Theory and Practical at Allabroad sailing school in Gibraltar.

I know I don't have that much sailing experience yet but I'm a well travelled and worldly sort of a person. I left England for my first overseas teaching position in Malawi, Africa in 1998 and have not been back since. I speak French and Spanish and have learnt that I have a good way with people, an ability to come up with solutions to problems and how to get out of sticky situations.

Given the dates that I'm available I was wondering it there are skippers looking for an extra crew member to help with a passage through the Panama Canal. I think I would be a helpful member of the crew for this passage this as I have lived in Latin America now for two years and I'm pretty good at dealing with bureaucracy and officials, two things that I've read go hand in hand with getting a vessel safely through the canal.

Having said this I'm not tied to any place in the world and for the right skipper and passage I'm happy start my month with a flight to meet a yacht.

If you think you might have a position that I could fill please get in touch with me.

Dennis

p.s. I'm also a musician and a reasonable cook so entertainment and food come as part of the deal ;o)
