Hello,
My name is Martin and I’m a 46 year old French Canadian male. I’m currently living in Lafayette, Louisiana and looking for a crew position departing the Caribbean or Central America (Panama, Costa Rica, etc.) towards the South Pacific. I’m available right now (January 2010) until August 2010.
I have a good sailing experience: a North Trans-Atlantic crossing (Montréal, Canada to Saint-Malo, France) on a 37 feet ketch and short sailing in Canada, France and Mexico.
I’m very helpful and flexible with anything required both at sea (watches, sails handling, navigation, etc.) and at port (polishing, varnishing, painting, cleaning hulls, etc.). I’m an excellent cook, also fluent in English, French and Spanish, and a good backgammon or crib player.
I have a Master’s Degree in History and Certification in Computer Science and Education. I taught many years as well as remodeled houses.
Having traveled a lot (North and South Americas, Europe, and Near East), and resided abroad (work/study: USA and Chile), I seek adventures. People describe me as friendly and easy-going. Born (Halifax, NS) and raised near the sea (Baie-Comeau, QC), I thrive on its openness, vastness, and uniqueness of scenery. Also, I enjoy the open-minded people that seem to surround the seas.
If you have any questions, please contact me on martinvagabond@gmail.com.
Best Regards,
Martin
P.S.: I will not attempt to bring any bananas onboard as well to say the French word «lapin» on the vessel…
