G'day,
Bill from Aus here, I'm a retired seaman, not a sailor but a would-like-to-be sailor
I was in the merchant marine and worked under a number of flags around the world. I also did a four year stint working the yachts in Greece, Pasalemani and Torkalimino (not sure if I spelt them right) Nice in the South of France and spent fourteen months working yachts in Durban, South Africa, before returning to Australia.
I plan on buying a sailboat, a 35 to 45' Horstmann Tri-Star or perhaps a Hedley Nicol Tri, something I can live aboard and do-up to keep me busy. I have not decided yet and there's no rush. I'm thinking a Tri as I did not enjoy eating food from my lap while on a mono
I'm told Tri's are much more stable.
I did build a Captain Cook, a 40' Waram Cat some years back but due to ill health of my wife, I sold it before I finished it.
Anyway there you have it, I'm still yearning to get back to sea, so I guess the old saying "Old seamen never die...they just smell that way" is true
Cheers mates,
Bill from Geelong.
