Hello everyone,
I have recently found and joined this forum and am impressed with the content. I’ve been sailing for the past 43 years and have thousands of offshore miles under my carcass. At present I have far to many boats but just can’t seem to let them go. I have a Corsair F-27 trimaran which I am prepping for the 2010 Jester Challenge (more info here:
http://www.jesterinfo.org/index.html ), an Allied Seawind II which I am refitting and getting ready for a circumnavigation and my beloved 14-foot Paradox “Zoë” which is great for quick evening getaways when the daughter stops by to spell me.
I am currently caring, full time, for my wife of 40 years who was diagnosed early in 2005 with Degenerative Dementia and is experiencing an ever-tightening downward spiral. Faced with the prospect of becoming single in the not too distant future, my mind has turned to what I will do when actually experiencing it.
My life’s passion has always been sailing and more explicitly, sailing to new foreign ports of call and experiencing their culture, food and customs. Having forgone that for the better part of 5 years it is logical that I will surely be setting sail shortly after my obligations have been met, if for no other reason than the sea is where I have always found solace.
However, my wife’s care is priority one for the immediate future and she requires attention 24-7 so my sailing is on hold. And it is thru these forums that I vicariously live my dreams.
Glen Maxwell
