Hi
I'm a 59 year old married man who is in the process of being made redundant after 30 years with a blue chip company, currently on 6 months garden leave though I have to admit I've been mostly sailing; from north wales via the IOM and N Ireland to Troon in Scotland then from Orkney to Oban via the Caledonian canal, now paying for it and having to do real garden work!
I have not got any formal sailing qualifications though have sailed since I was 15 on a variety of boats from a 52 foot trimaran to a 26 foot McGregor trailer sailer plus a variety of dingies.
I no longer have my own boat but have sailed in the Med, East coast USA and extensively around the UK, clocking well over 3500 miles, with 61 night hours since I started a log in the mid 80's.
My usual duties are general deck hand, watch leader, helm and cook.
I've not decided what to do in the new year job wise yet but am likely to be doing short term contracts or consultancey, which will mean I will have more time to sail; I would particulary like to do the far North/ Baltic, Antipideds and an Atlantic crossing, want to see both southern and northern lights.
