After having my backside parked during a meeting for 4 hours, the upshot was...
In accordance with UN Resolution 1373 (pushed thru by the G8, don't blame us!), effective 1 July 2007 the Fiji Inland Revenue and Customs Administration (FIRCA) will require that it be notified, in writing, via form C.2.C. , the arrival of a foreign vessel a MINIMUM (in other words, no worries sending in earlier) of 48 hours in advance, for vessels less than 500 ton.
The form is not yet available on line, but is supposed to be up next week (June 19th+, Monday is the Queen's Birthday holiday) at
www.frca.org.fj.
You should fax the form thru to the Customs office at one of the four ports you plan to enter at (Savusavu, Suva, Lautoka, & Levuka). In theory, you can email FIRCA, chances are the satellite offices won't get the word.
Chances are also high that there will be initial implementation 'friction' as everyone learns how to jump thru the appropriate hoops.
BTW, you might notice that the FIRCA website is 'frca'. A foreward thinking individual registered the domain first, hoping that they would get some revenue!
