From St. Maarten to Florida. Never a problem with buying propane, or the fittings.

We left Hawaii with aluminum tanks fitted with the old American style valves and were able to fill 'em in Australia, Malaysia, Thailand Oman, Egypt Malta, Spain... and recently throughout the Caribbean when needed. We never had any problem getting them filled - anywhere. The gas nipple used to fill the tanks are the exact same as common gas fittings used for welding gas and an adapter could easily be made... however we never found the need. Not to worry.

To Life!

Kirk
