A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., hoisted four people from a sailing vessel, 172 miles east of Wilmington, Friday December 12, 2008.
I know no more then this as I have JUST heard this on the news here in North Carolina. Seems all four crew members are safe and sound. There is not way that I can thank the US Coast Guard enough for what they do.
A later report says that the skipper is attempting to recover the vessel that is still afloat. This may be another case of an ilprepared skipper and crew that stepped down to their life raft, but I am not going to judge until I get more of the facts.
