Sailing and docking in mykonos, greece

I will appreciate some tips about sailing around the cyclades islands and docking in mykonos marina in late september 2012.

You can't go into the harbour in Mykanos town - you have to use the 'new' harbour about a mile away. When I went there a few years ago, this is a big wall that the cruise ships moored on the outside with the yachts on the inside. Med mooring with quite poor holding and at times strong cross winds that make it interesting!

Thanks!! But there have been some works done in the new marina that we know about that should offer some mouring and other facilities that were not there even a year ago. I need some updated information about the conditions now or those that will be in the coming september.
And also are the strong winds expected to be as strong in late September?
In the books, the meltemi is more typical during the summer months, July and August.

We were in Mykonos Marina in September 2011 and completely revamped the entry, so it's probably as up to date as you'll find (although knowing Greece there may be one or two fewer mooring lines now). As for the meltemi, there's certainly less risk of a really strong one in late September but northerly winds still predominate.

Would anyone know about the docking conditions in Santorini (Thira) in Greece? Vlichada marina? Can we make a reservation to dock there for late September? Is there a harbourmaster we can call?
