Good day:

We'd like to introduce ourselves to the Forum ... Jon and Jennifer Glaudemans, sailing an Fountaie-Pajot Orana 44 -- Ile De Grace. We purchased the boat in 2007, took delivery in France in early 2008, and Jennifer joined a professional captain for the trip across to Annapolis. IDG is presently on the hard in Georgetown, MD at Georgetown Yacht Basin, where we're installing watermaker, solar, wind, freezer, etc. A summer's worth of shake-down, a fall trip down to Florida, and we expect to cast off on New Years Day, 2010, bound staright for Panama (we've done the Caribbean), then to Galapagos, then South Pacific. We plan to "over-summer" in northern Australia from November '10 - February '11, and then continue to head west, eventually to the Mediterranean -- route dependent on piracy etc. We expect to take at least two years ...

We're a 50ish couple with a lifetime of coastal/bay sailing behind us, as well as about 50k blue water miles (me) and a Bermuda-Tortoal passage on a 29' + trans-Atlantic on our own boat (Jennifer).

We look forward to meeting many of you along the way -- either via email or in person.

We're be looking for advice regularly ... equipment, visas, medicines, etc ...

Best

Jon and Jennifer

Hi, Welcome to this forum. I was just wondering what you mean by "over summer" in Australia, as that it is not the best time to be in Northern OZ due to the wet season and the odd cyclone we will more than likely experience.

Happy Hols
