Atlantic Crossing
Hello, we are in North Carolina and In the spring of 2013 are planning a trip up the East Coast to Nova Scotia then we want to do a crossing to the Azores then onto Portugal. Sometime inthe fall we want to sail south towards the Caribbean for the winter.
Any thoughts on what is best to do here. It will be our first crossing the big pond so looking for some pointers.
Thanks
Bryan

tlantic crossing
I just read an interesting book on crossing the Atlantic and sailing around the Caribbean, and beyond. It was a fun book and may shed some light or entertainment for you while sailing It is a non fiction by Jonathan Reid called Days of Deja vu on amazon's kindle.

Hello I live in NH and cruise the New England waters mostly north of Boston but have been through the Cape Cod canal many times and work part time teaching sailing in Boston Harbor. I have made three transatlantics two eastbound via the acores and once west via the canaries.
What type of vessel are you on?

Bristol
Capt Jack, we purchased a 1981 Bristol 41 .1 two years ago in Gloucester, Mass. Trucked it to Washington NC and am now doing upgrades to it. It is a center cockpit and seems to sail pretty good. I picked a boat my wife wanted cause I could have sailed in anything. She and a friend of hers found this vessel there andwe both fell in love with her. Planning on spending some time on her over the next 10 years or so.
When you did the east about trips did you find anything that I might want to know. What time of year did you do it? How long without land listed? Any concerns I need to know about would be helpful.
Thanks again
Bryan

The Bristol is on my list of "next boats."
I'd love to hear your impressions about her as a cruising boat. What works, what doesn't, what you would never want to give up, what you wish were different.

Coyote, we will see what she is like on an Atlantic crossing next year. She is a solid boat. Will let you know then.
