Default Leaving for Great Voyage 2005!

Hello all,

Well today is the day. In about 30 minutes my friend will be over to pick me up, and tow Hard Knots to Long Beach, California, for her sail to Hawaii. Yesterday we shook down the new autopilot, and main sail at Saguaro Lake, and everything went as planned.

So Good Bye, and I'll post when I reach Oahu. Incidently, I thought I'd be very excited, but in fact it feels very anticlimactic.

-Robin

Robin,

I have been away skiing in Austria so was unable to wish you well for your voyage before you sailed.

By the time you read this you will be in the sun in Hawaii so congratulations!! Hopefully you now have the voyaging bug big time and will be planning the next destination on your cruise

Best wishes

David

I'm still in Avalon Harbour making some modifications, but will be leaving soon. At least the boat is now in the water. It was Force 8 coming across the San Pedro channel to Catalina but I made 6 knots with a deep reef and stormjib, even managed to get some sleep!

Thanks for all the good wishes. We're alive and doing fine.

Dear Robyn,

Good luck to you... what a gutsy adventure. I hope you have a ball and tell us all about it when you make port.

Cheers,

Steve

Has anyone heard from Robin. I would have thought that he would have arrived in Hawaii by now, assuming that he sailed just after his last post

Dave,

I got pretty badly hurt in March doing something stupid with the Catalina style mooring. I tore two tendon in my right knee and am still recouperating. I'll be ready to go soon though and have been weathering the injurry here on Santa Catalina.

Thanks,

Robin

Robin

Sorry to hear about your injury but hope that its now healed enough for you to carry out the voyage soon.

Keep us posted whether you go or are delayed - there are a lot of people who obviously wish you well and want to know that you are safe

Fair winds
