Of course we never buy anything for ourselves but, what have you got planned for your boat's stocking this year?

I have already got an fantastic 1960's radio receiver and DF for Nausikaa. the rock solid, nuclear explosion proof Sailor R109. For me, this is the ultimate radio receiver: metal casing and no chips but reparable electronics. It is big, bulky and wonderful.

What about you other guys and gals? What will Santa Claus bnring down your funnels?

Well, since I got computerized on board last year, (and I am looking forward to the revolutionary french USB device in another thread) I have althouhg reluctantly realized it is about time to outfit Röde Orm with a solar panel. I want the foldable/rollable kind, to be conveniently stowed away when not in use, but they seem hard to get at in my remote part of the sailing world, so we'll see...

As we're trying to ready Sea Venture to take off, we're thinking in terms of what we think we must have before we go. With all the toys begging for our attention, we've narrowed the end of the year purchases down to a new ship's computer (I inherit the old, as my primary need is for Word and tax prep and the ancient thing I've been using won't accept new tax programs and has two dying--one dead--usb ports.) We're also going to sell Michael's big welder and buy a small portable one to take with us. We've lots of stainless on board that he can maintain, plus a few new things we want to add, and he may be able to barter jobs if we have it with us. We half-jokingly talk about using our skills to barter for rice if the cash flow stops...but who know?
