My wife and I are preparing to go cruising in the Caribbean and South America for 2-10 years, and since I have a passion (and wealth of experience) for SCUBA diving, I wanted to get a sense for the availability of air fills and cost throughout the area. We are also looking for possible means to supplement our income, so I was considering buying a dive compressor and offering air fill services and diving services to fellow cruisers. The air compressor obviously won't be needed (for my own purposes) if fill stations are common, and in that case also would not offer much of a revenue potential. Do most cruisers do their own sub-surface work, or might there be an opportunity here? All input greatly appreciated.
PS-I've read almost every post on every cruising site for the past three years in preparation for our upcoming adventure, so I'm well aware of foreign employment concerns as well as potential injury or damage liabilities, so we don't need to explore those paths here. I'd rather stay focused on the availability of air and services throughout this area. Thanks a bunch.
Michael & Karen
