Seychelles To Karachi

I'm planning to sail Seychelles to Karachi next month. Please anyone with time please can you let me know what I should not forget!! You know the sort of thing that you left of the check list. i.e can opener?.... The usual thing if only I had remembered.....

Also any comments as to communicatons? SSB or sat phone? Thanks. Any help appreciated.

Do not forget to check rigging - the present wind forecasts show very strong S.W. winds for over 600 nm

The following current scenario (which should ease off before you leave - come back a couple of days before and get you an up to date forecast of surface winds ) :-

Leaving Seychelles on HDG 022 degrees true ......

Seychelles >> 5d N x 58d E : wind SSW 10>15>10 Kts.

5d N x 58d E to 10d N x 62d E : wind SW 15>20 Kts.

10d N x 62d E to 20d N x 66d E : wind SW 25 > 30 Kts ++.

20d N x 66d E to Karachi : wind SW 20 Kts.



HF Radio Nets - lousy propagation this year :-

14.323Mhz @ 0025hrs zulu. At 0055hrs, Wx forecasts are relayed.

14.316Mhz & moves to 7.045Mhz @ 0630hrs and also @ 1130hrs (both frequencies)

14.320Mhz @ 1115hrs zulu. At 1130hrs zulu moves to S.Africa M/M net on 14.316hz.

I'm good. All I have is the boat. It's tied up on Mahe. I'm working in Karachi and want bring my boat here. Its about 1900 Nautical Miles so 10 12 days all with following winds. The boat is a Beneteau 440 and is only fitted with basic stuff. On my way home next few weeks I plan to stop over in Dubai and buy an auto helm and radar and possibly an SSB. The thing is I need the boat here to do her up so do not want to spend to much before I get her here in Karachi. Difficult call!! Please anyother comments welcome. email me if you prefer. Tks.
