I just read Cudjoe Codger's Crew Wanted post -
http://www.cruiserlog.com/forums/ind...showtopic=3986 - and it brought about memories for me that I still relive to this day.
When Peter and I left Boston to cruise "for a few years", I was still inexperienced at the hard stuff - the long legs in less than perfect weather, provisioning the boat well enough to insure good nutrition but also those familiar "comfort foods" that keep us from feeling deprived, recoving from mistakes - one skill that we eventually were VERY good at!
We went offshore for the greater part of the trip down the East coast, but I have fond memories of the stretches of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) that we did. It offered us an opportunity to see so much more of our own country before we set off for distant lands, and I just loved it.
We are now pretty much confined to US cruising; on a powerboat, to boot, and looking for new places to visit. The trip the Cudjoe Codger describes sounds so interesting that I think it will be on the agenda in the near future for us.
So nice to have all these interesting and experienced people to hang out with.
