Hey all, I'm over here on the Poop Deck whining a bit. In early May I took a flying leap from the bridge deck into the cockpit--OK, it was more like a whoaaaaa fall with a twist in the middle. Ended up with something called a high ankle sprain. Never had a sprain before in my life but man this one is a doozy: 3 torn ligaments including deltoid, ruptured spring, and something else...oh year and according to what I've read on the matter, the spring ligament doesn't heal--it actually has to be repaired surgically. Why am I telling you not to trust those docs? Because this happened a couple months ago--they did x-ray, didn't do MRI because (cost reasons) they wait until you DON'T heal before doing an MRI...and then when 10 weeks later they did the MRI they said "this is a bad set of ligament tears--you didn't tell us you were in so much pain!" and stuck me in a boot for a month.
I've got a week and a half more of this boot thing. It is really getting OLD. Clump, clump, clump. Climbing up the side of the boat onto the rubrail to get to the covering board is oh-so-much-fun for my hubby to watch. I think he's wondering when I'll be making my big splash into the water.
Whine, whine, whine. OK, I'm not "over it" but I suppose I should say something pleasant about sailing....well...hummm...
