The couple jumped bail, stealing a
10m (33ft) two-masted yacht from Mylor Yacht Harbour, near Falmouth. The yacht was later spotted by a harbour master at the port of Fowey in March 2006 and they were arrested for theft.

While awaiting trial the couple went on the run again. Friends heard rumours that they had been seen in Scotland, Jersey and mainland Europe.When the lovers arrived in Portugal they
stole another yacht, Skipper 7, from the harbour in Villa Nore. It was this vessel that fishermen discovered adrift 13 miles, from Dakar, the Senegalese capital, in September 2006.

" when stealing a boat make sure that it has tons of food on board - especially when the crew do not know how to navigate."
