Lions survive showdown

Scene 1, Bull buffalo spots waiting Lionesses - thinks 'I'll see them off' then changes his mind and turns tail back to the herd. Scene 2, Lionesses now running straight for the herd; in the buffalos' retreat a young calf falls in the river, pursued by a couple of lionesses. Scene 3, crocodile grabs the buffalo calf and drags it under water, Scene 4, tug of war commences between lions and crocodile; lions win, pulling the calf out of the river. Scene 5, calf's mother arrives with the rest of the cavalry, she hooks one lioness into the air, and the calf rejoins the herd. Scene 6, now the buffalo have the upper hand and put the rest of the lionesses to flight.

Wild Life Question:- Was the crocodile's intervention meant to save the calf from the lions?

Liked the "the balance of nature and all the dude!"

Is "dude' just another term for Syncerus caffer, Panthera leo and their friend Crocodylus niloticus?

Like Aotearoa is the real name for New Zealand (Which after all is probably an Anglised dutch name!)

2 empties,

As American English has always been just one step ahead of establishing a new word, a phrase - slang whatever. Always understood "Dude" to mean an 'Easterner' dressed up in western garb (feeling rather uncomfortable).

In Cowboy country- it is understood that 'dudes' are now catered for on 'Dude ranches' - where for a great deal of money, they are expected to herd cows over great distances, suffering great inconveniences, dangers and saddle sores. Buffaloes and Lions are an occasional problem - the American Crocodile is seldom seen.
