Pirates Attack S/V Tir Na Nog

Midday today 16 APR 06 pirates in Gulf of Aden attacked 38 ft Cheoy Lee Ketch "Tir Na Nog". 3 persons on board (Mary , Merle and Crystal ) Attack took place some 20 nm off the Yemen coast - Italian Coast Guard in Rome had taken a message they had received a mayday relayed by an Italian freighter from the "Tir Na Nog" that they were under attack, US and Dutch navy vessels reported to be "investigating"

UPDATE - 17th April 2006

Lt . Commander Charlie Brown of the U.S. 5th Fleet Bahrain reports

that investigation by navy ships sent to investigate found that no

attack had taken place. The crew of the ketch "Tir na Nog" had become

alarmed at the activities of "fishing boats" and had called for help.

Great news that the U.S. and Dutch Navies reacted so positively. Thanks
