Sail Indonesia 2008 Western Passage Rally
the "Western Passage Rally" visits the cultural and geographical differences of the islands of Timor, Alor, Flores, Sulawesi, Bali, Java and Borneo. Then on to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand and onwards to wherever.
The entry list tell us a lot about boats cruising the oceans in July 2008.
Although the yachts are representing a group entering a Rally , They have come from far off places and will continue their cruises after the rally ends officially in Singapore ( or thereabouts) The models and lengths also give us a good idea of what 2008 regards as suitable sailboats to fulfil dreams. (Only one boat is not a sailboat - however, the Diesel Duck is a good boat to go cruising

DIVERSITY
A scan of the above 2 fleets shows an amazing diversity in the both the builders
and their models. Only the Beneteau 38 in the monos and the Granger 42 in the catamarans do we find boats of the same model - (They are probably of different years !!!!!!) It does illustrate the fact that sailors and cruisers are of independent minds.
