AHOY!! from Cheyenne, WY
Will cowboy boots leave marks on the deck? Seriously, my wife, Becky, and I are new to the forum and would like to say Howdy! to everyone.
We started sailing in Puerto Rico (Becky's homeport) in the 1970's on a Hobie 14, moved up to a Morgan 24, then on to a "Group" Beneteau 41' in the BVI's and finally to our own Cape Horn Cutter 43', currently in NC being prepared to sail down to Culebra, PR, where she will be based, with intentions of roaming the Caribbean. We are both retired and looking forward to spending a lot more time afloat. I am a retired pilot so I know what the "big N" on the compass means and Becky's skills in the galley will keep us from becoming malnourished at sea. We have been sailing the Spanish / American / British Virgin Islands for the past 15 years so I suspect we have run across a few of you and look forward to meeting many more of you in the future! Cheers!!

Welcome aboard!
Are you in NC yourselves right now (hot, hot, hot) or in the cooler climate of WY? Hopefully the latter! Assume you'll be heading south from NC after the bulk of hurricane season passes? Plans for side-trip or anything special?
Fair winds,

Nice boat! My previous craft had a round stern. It cut the room in the aft cab (centre cockpit) a little, but at anchor there was never any lapping, or in a counter wind chop, banging on the stern as the water would part rather than slap into a transom. Much quieter!
Cheers.

We are currently in Wyoming enjoying a beautiful summer (85 degree days / 55 degree nights / good sleeping). We are planning on heading to and spending October / November in Hampstead, NC working on CAREFREE getting her ready for sea. We plan on spending a little time in the Keys, then head over to the Bahamas in the Spring, working our way down to the Turks & Caicos, over to and down the north coast of the Dom. Rep., across the Mona Passage to the south coast of Puerto Rico, gunkholing along the south coast of PR to Salinas, then out to Ensenada Honda in Culebra, her new base of operations.

Rob, Never seen one, but then I'm a Caribbean sailor. I am sure that it's an oversight, but we don't get a hell of a lot of Australian influence in the Caribbean, Mate!! More English, Dutch (our greenies) and French. Maybe you guys weren't out raping and pillaging during the eighteenth century!!
