Hello,
I am based in the West Coast of Scotland, with a Comfortina 38, which I am slowly getting ready for a prolonged cruise, hoping to set off in 2010. I have been racing acruising for about forty years, including solo trans atlantic and homeward cruise, etc etc.
Stuart

Welcome, Stuart, to the Cruiser Log!
We look forward to your contributions to the forums based on you sailing experiences. Also--do you have an idea of where you'll go on your upcoming 2010 adventure?
Fair winds,
Brenda and David

Thanks for the response!I have loose plans only, but at the moment I hope to be starting with Brittany and Spain. I will be on a really tight daily budget and the whole thing might have to slip a year depending on the current slide of the pound! At the moment I can afford to be at sea, but not alongside anywhere, the way Marina charges are going. Currently installing a windlass and getting some good ground tackle for full independence. I will probably be solo. The aim is to have the boat ready by early 2010, then if the trip is possible I am ready to slip and set off.
Stuart

Welcome from me too Stuart. Good to have you aboard.
As for expenses, get the best ground tackle you can afford and spend more time swinging on the hook than alongside. It sing ground works out far cheaper. I am in NW Spain. The cruising ground here is fantastic with some lovely and well sheltered anchorages.
Keep us posted about how your plans develop and when you get here we can discuss sailing over a glass of "tinto"

Hi Stuart,
Am just around the corner (Cape Wrath) from you with very similar plans (and finances). My new boat is in Plymouth but aim to bring it north in June, then head off late this year or 2010 also probably solo.
Sean.

Sean,
My welcome, naturally, extends to you too. If you are coming this way (I am in Vigo) let me know and the drinks are on me.

G'Day Guys and I add my welcome also.
Stephen - you'd better stock up as by my reckoning, we'll sail into Vigo late July 2009. You have been warned.

Going to be tight. Make it a bit earlier or a bit later as I am off to Cape Town towards the end of July. Keep me informed though and we will see what we can do
