Hi everybody. :-)

I am from South Africa - Durban and new to sailing.

Recently bought myself a 21 foot yacht (built in 1973 in Cape Town) with the plan to learn to sail (day sails) and then maybe move on to a bigger yacht and some cruising in a year or two.

I have already learnt a lot on this website. Thank you.

The cruising community is a great bunch of people.

Hi and welcome Pinotage.

No need to say that you are from SA with Pinotage as your "call sign". It is a South African as pro teas and springboks. It also happens to be my favourite grape sort. Lovely wine! So full bodied and distinctive.

Anyway, grab yourself a glass of the stuff and enjoy yourself here.

Aye

Stephen

Thank you Stephen.

Pinotage is the name of my yacht.

What makes the name really appropriate is that the design is called a Kelkiewyn. Translated to english it is "cup of wine" and the builder was in Cape Town. (our wine region)

I am learning more about sailing daily.

Getting more respect for the olden day sailors and their primative equipment (compared to todays) as I go along.

Thanks again for a great forum.
