Here is an early report on storm damage in Bonaire from Omar.
"We are getting pounded by Omar since last night. Divi Resort has
taken a great deal of damage. One of our dive boats is a total loss.
We spent the morning reacting to docks breaking up, the Balashi Bar
being destroyed, and the dive pier breaking up as well. We were able
to save the dive gear from the lockers and the tanks from the pier
before the lockers broke away into 6-9 foot seas that pounded us
through the process. As I left the walkway in front of the dive shop
was breaking up. The front of the shop is covered with plywood but I
am not sure it will not break loose in the heavy seas that are
pounding it. Worse weather expected tonight. The reefs are taking a
pounding and I think when this storm finally moves off we will
see much more damage. Very disheartening to have this happen as the
season is about to begin.
Downtown on the waterside the damage is extensive so far. I must say
I was amazed this morning to still see sailboats tied to the moorings
in front of the water road. I have heard some of them are on shore but
cannot confirm."
Any reports in Curacao or Aruba?
