How long will it take to sail a 36-foot sailboat from St. Kitts to Grenada? I'd appreciate any responses.

Also: is there a good online reference that will help me answer this and similar questions?

Thank you!

Just did it week before last in a 51 footer. Simpson Bay SXM to Basse-Terre, Guadalope 22hrs, Basse-Terre to Port Louis, Grenada 36 hrs. We had the wind off the port quarter all the way. It will probably take longer in a 36' boat because of the reduced hull speed. We averaged between 6-8 knots.

When you get to Grenada if you are going to do any rainforest tours check into the ones you can reach by public bus rather than a taxi with a tour guide, you will save a bundle of money. There is a park entrance fee of $5 EC good for the whole island.

It's a nice trip, a bit to wind but nice. Basse-terre to Montserrat then direct Grenada. You pass some great islands on the way, why go direct. You might not get 6 knots and you might be tired of the wind inching south. Why not go through St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Stop off in Tobago Cays, Mayreau and Union Island. Where are you going in Grenada? Prickly Bay, St. Davids or St. Georges.

If you do go direct, you might consider squeezing over as close to Guadeloupe if you can. Then if the wind shifts, you have an extra 10 to 15 degrees to bear away and still get to destination.
