My '76 Columbia 9.6 has 2000 series Volvo -Penta, boat is under powered I've read and I don't know how to start this thing if it even runs. It seems to turn over to easy, like no compression, so should I invest in trying to sell this dinosaur? Does anybody want it? Attachment 1346

Had a look at the schematic for this 10 hp engine, but could not find info on faults in this model.
As this engine is started by hand cranking - it may have a decompression lever, which is depressed while you build up the cranking speed, once this is achieved, the lever is released and the piston on its compression stroke with valves closed, compresses the diesel/air mixture and the cylinder fires and way she goes.
So before you sell it - look for a decompression lever.
Another reason to repower is the extraordinary cost of spares for Volvos.
