Default Wanting to learn

I live in wellington very close to marinas. I am semi retired and want to follow lifelong ambition to sail. I have had minimal experience but am willing to tackle any job you might have to gain some knowledge and experience so that ultimately be able to crew with someone on a voyage. I am fit and healthy, honest and reliable and a non drinker. I would like at some stage to own and live aboard my own vessel. I am very handy with most tools and can turn my hand to most jobs efficiently. If you can help in any way or i can help you or someone you know please contact me at gmail address. robert.crook17@gmail.com

Your best bet is probably crew.org.nz

New Zealand has an Island Regatta every year that gives people an opportunity to gain cruising experience by sailing as crew to Fiji, New Caledonia and other islands of the South Pacific. Crew is needed in both directions. We met lots of those folks on the two trips south to New Zealand.

What are the expectations, duties etc. of someone who is crewing for the day, or week, or month? Financial responsibilities include, I'm assuming, your own food, supplies etc. but I don't want to show up and crew and be considered a total numbnut because I don't know the etiquette! How can I be the best crew possible? What are the general expectations most skippers have? Thank you!

Take your first post, print it, and post it at marinas and boatyards.

If you can add either experienced carpenter, electrician, or mechanic to "handy with tools", all the better.

Put "WILL WORK FOR SAILING" in bold letters at the top.

Ha ha ha! Well I work on my own cars, am a hobby carpenter (converting my van into a camper at the moment), paint and cook and am pretty handy, so I'll do that for sure! Thanks!
