Greetings to All,

We've just returned from a two month Farewell Tour and are in final preparation of throwing away our dock lines within coming weeks.

I broke-down and purchased a new laptop with massive ammounts of memory & hard drive capacity... and I'm hoping some of you will give me an idea of some good navigation / communication programs currently available. My old computer has a global selection of C-Map charts to display but no program to interact with them.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Kirk

Others will likely have more complete solutions for you, but have you checked out the free SeaClear program? I know/suspect you're going out of US waters, but the free downloads of NOAA charts from NOAA are awesome, you may want to set up a hefty download before you leave a high-speed internet access area just to have those US charts to use with SeaClear.

We have two programs on the computer, I don't recall the name of the other and the laptop isn't here right now.. I'll ask my husband later.

Best to ya! Where are you headed this time?

I use Raytech 6.0 which can communicate with all my Raymarine devices. It makes it possible to use several types of chart software. I use Navionics on the E-80 and C-Map on my laptop.

Review here:

I used Raytech 5.0 for years and had lots of issues with it. I agree with the article and believe they finally got it right now...for the most part.

Also, a nice piece of software that is written by a guy in Brazil for Celestial Navigation called Navigator can be downloaded here..

I really like this software!
