Although a newbie to this board, I am no spring chicken. More like the grizzled old man. We are looking for "the" boat.

I am sick of the land-lubber's life and am selling the farm, equipment, livestock, art studio, kilns, personal property, etc..

We have the means to retire and live aboard very well. I want to simplify life. We are looking for a well-equipped, comfortable and reasonably fast post-blister era Valiant 40, Crealock 37, or similar vessel, that has been kept in bristol condition.

I used to live aboard a C&C 35 sloop and miss it. I never should have sold it! I got tired of listening to my then future ex-wife bitching about my beloved boat, and $ I spent on it. Now I have neither one, the beloved C&C nor the bitching ex-wife. She was replaced by the new and improved, upgraded wife, 13 years ago. Now it's time we can upgrade house, buy, maintain and sail a bigger boat.

It was so liberating the first time I moved aboard and got rid of all that crap I had collected living a professional life of commute and stress.

We would like to cruise the San Juans in the Pacific Northwest for awhile, then head across the Pacific the following season.

Fair Winds,

Commodore Salt

A hearty "welcome aboard".

Hope you find that perfect boat - soon, and get on out there. Let us know how your search is going.

Make yourself at home - the drinks are on "JeanneP" this week.

G'day 'Salt(ie)' bloke. I'm sure you WILL enjoy this 'site. The best I've come-across in 50 yrs of sailing. Lots of very positive, knowledgeable people in here with very-few negative - time-wasters. Am sure you'll find a 'new model' yacht that you can enjoy your life with (just like your Lady of 13 yrs). 'Good luck doesn't just happen - you have to choose it 'carefully', time has shown me (at only 70). Both nice choices; Crealock 37 - (in google) $199,000.00 Canadian, not much used & price going down! And then there's the Valiant 40 at $168,000.00 Australian. Now that's a very serious 'cruising yacht' of the finest caliber !! That one is the finest 'ready to go all the way' (a mandatory requirement/asset in yachts & Ladies), top class cruising capable yacht/home - if every I have seen one. And that's after 55 yrs. of working, playing & living on the 'wet-bit' of this place - earth. Sure do send our-best to you both & am sure you will - with 'great care' make the correct decision 'when the sails-fill'. I've noticed that "every reality begins with a dream" Good winds to you, from down-under, ciao & we'll all be watching your progress, james aka jj aka Silver Raven. PS Sure hope you stay in 'forums' & do 'fill-in' your 'bio' as it helps us help you if'n we know about you & yours. jj
